Sweet Innocence (Sarasota Newborn Portraits)

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

Today I was looking at these photos that I took, thinking about the sweet innocence that embraces our homes and families when a new baby arrives- and how quickly those days are gone!  I love photographing newborns- their silky hair, sweet smell, and tender skin just conveys so well onto the portrait- a memory literally captured in time!  This baby girl was so easy to take pictures of, and her family was lovely too- big brother Riley and their parents.  I also love this one that we took with her and mom- I can only wish that I had a photo like this to cherish of my own children!

Enjoy the little snippet of our shoot!

Circus Sarasota!

Friday, February 6th, 2009

I had a blast photographing Circus Sarasota (www.circussarasota.org) last week at a VIP Luncheon held by the Community Foundation of Sarasota.  This was for the opening of the circus event “Bello Comes Home” featuring the world famous performer Bello Nock.  It was so much fun with all the normal circus stuff- face painting, cotton candy, popcorn, and of course…clowns!  But Circus Sarasota is unique- I like to call it a cross between Cirque de Soleil and Ringling Brothers!  I’m taking my kids back this weekend to check it out, but for now….enjoy a few pictures!!!

I was photographing an event recently at Marina Jacks in Sarasota, and I happened to look over and grab this adorable shot of a precious little girl clutching her teddy bear.  Isn’t she too sweet?!

Ron Clark comes to Sarasota!

Sunday, January 18th, 2009

I had the privelege of photographing one of the most awesome events yet this past week!  Ron Clark, America’s favorite educator, came to town to speak at Sarasota High School.  I had never heard of him until this day, and once I saw him speak at the event- all I can say is… WOW!  Ron Clark was an everyday teacher who was tired of the school system and it’s rules and restrictions on kids, so he turned things around in his classroom.  His out-of-the-box thinking quickly turned heads, and he has become nationally renowned for his success teaching underpriveleged and inner city kids.  He now operates the Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta, Georgia and his students test scores have far surpassed what anyone might’ve imagined for those kids.  He has been known to sing, dance, stand on tables, and get downright crazy when he’s teaching…it’s just too cool!  Check him out at www.ronclarkacademy.com!  Here are a few shots of the speech…

Hope Your Holidays Were Merry!

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

I hope everyone had a beautiful Holiday season and a Happy New Year! I am back to work now after taking off a few fun weeks with the kiddos- it’s great to be back into the swing of things, but it’s always bittersweet when Christmas ends!  Here’s to a prosperous and happy 2009…

Happy Birthday Ethan!

Monday, December 15th, 2008

Well, it’s official.  My son Ethan is turning 6 years old today.  We took him to Sea World yesterday to celebrate and he’s having a little party at school today, then it’s off to Chuck-E-Cheese for our big birthday bash tonight!  I made the famous chocolate chip waffles for breakfast (everyone in our house gets ‘em on their birthday, with chocolate syrup instead of maple!) and he already tore into all his presents…so I think he made out pretty well.  But what it comes down to is this…it’s not about the presents, the cake, the parties, or the chocolate chip waffles.  It’s about letting my children know just how much each of their births has meant to me, and what Ethan brought into my life the day he was born is indescribable.  He has been a source of wisdom, compassion, freedom, understanding, and unconditional love to me.  He has taught me things in his 6 years on this earth that I could have never learned otherwise, and out of it I’ve found my best pal, my oldest son, and my window to the future.  And with that…a little glimpse into the past 6 years…Happy Birthday big man!!!
